A woman believed to be deceased and on the verge of incineration at the Wat Rat Prakhong Tham in the suburbs of Bangkok has been discovered living by monastery staff.

The monastery's general manager the manager stated he was "shocked" to detect a faint tapping emanating from the casket, he informed media outlets.

The manager revealed he asked for the casket to be opened and observed her "opening her eyes slightly and tapping against the side of the coffin". "The woman had likely been tapping for several minutes," he continued.

Her sibling of the 65-year-old lady claimed municipal authorities had told him his sister had died. But, the temple's manager clarified the relative lacked a death certificate.

While the manager tried to clarify to the family member the process for getting a death certificate, monastery staff heard a faint tapping coming from inside the coffin.

Once it became clear the lady was alive, the temple's head monk said the woman should be taken to medical facility without delay.

The doctor later confirmed that the patient had been suffering from serious hypoglycaemia - a medical state where blood sugar levels get dangerously reduced, regional accounts indicated.

This physician eliminated the possibility that she had experienced respiratory failure or heart failure, as per the reports.

The younger brother said his sister had been confined to bed for the last 24 months and as her health deteriorated she seemed to stopped breathing on the weekend, as per the monastery's manager.

Her relatives had travelled from the region of Phitsanulok in the country for the cremation ceremony, undertaking a approximately 311 mile trip.
